Matawhero was founded by Kiwi wine-making pioneers and legends Bill and Denis Irwin who planted the first vineyards in Gisborne. Now owned by Kristen and Richard Searle, Matawhero wines are ‘dry-farmed’ ie no irrigation is used.

Produced from vines of the family’s Briant vineyard, an SB that is both tropical and zesty. A nose of passionfruit, green herbs and melon leads to a palate of orchard fruit, citrus and greengage.
