Domaine Olivier Guyot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2017, Burgundy, France

Clos Vougeot is a fabled walled, grand Cru, founded by the Cisterian monastic order in 1110 covering 50 hectares in Gevrey. It remained in their ownership until the land was seized by the French State as a consequence of the Revolution (1789). The vineyard has subsequently been divided by numerous sales and inheritances. Now 80 different growers have vines here.

Olivier Guyot is one such proud owner, with around a fifth of a hectare, he produces 900 bottles (4 barrels) of this nectar per year.

A true great Pinot Noir with complexity and power. It shows a deep colour, nose of cherry, blackcurrant and oak, and a palate packed with Rich prune, liquorice and clove notes.
