Château Guiraud 2016 Sauternes Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France 37.5cl

Château Guiraud is a large property (85 hectares) in Sauternes that seeks to rival the great d’Yquem. The blend here is 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, with fermentation and aging in barrique (50% new each year).

This is a wonderful elixir of a wine. the bouquet is of botrytis, apricot, acacia honey and orange zest. on the palate, those components continue to the palate. the mouthfeel and finish are unctuous, lingering yet fresh.
