Cantine Povero Barbera d’Asti ‘Marida’, Piedmont, Italy

Barbera is Piedmont’s most approachable grape variety; easier going than Nebbiolo, and rounder and more generous than Dolcetto.

‘Marida’ is from Piedmont’s sub-zone of Asti. Aged for ten months, partly in oak, this is fleshy and supple with notes of bramble fruit, cinnamon and cigar box.

Ideal with meat-based pasta dishes.
