Lanzerac Pionier Pinotage, Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Pionier Pinotage is a 20 year old single vineyard block in Jonkershoek.. Hand harvested and sorted followed by fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks for seven days. Only natural yeast were used for fermentation. The wine under went malolactic fermentation in new and 2nd fill 225L French oak barrels. The wine spent an overall of 21 months in barrels, only the best barrels were hand selected and blended.

The Lanzerac Pionier Pinotage is a tribute to the world’s first bottled Pinotage a 1959 Lanzerac Pinotage. Beautiful aromas of plum and cherries are prominent. Complex and velvety palate with a layered and lingering after taste. Delicious with Confit Duck & cherries, venison, Turkey with stuffing.
