Vines of more than 40 years of age, located at an altitude of more than 600m on chalky-clay soils. 13 months’ ageing in 225 litre hand-cleft French oak barrels and a minimum of 10 months in bottle. Lightly toasted barrels from the very best French cooperages are used.
The style of Cosme is clearly evident, with a very intense nose of ripe red fruit, liquorice and aniseed. Ageing in new French oak brings touches of spices such as pepper, cinnamon and menthol, making a complex and elegant whole. Powerful, muscular wine, with fine, ripe tannins, sweet flavours on the finish and balanced acidity bringing freshness. The finish is very long, ending on flavours of candied fruit and roasted coffee beans.
